Adventure Race Team

Why do we call it Adventure Race Team?

The race team participates in a variety of events, and that diversity of events equates to a diversity of experiences and adventures.

Why A.R.T.?

Competitive adventures can help kids become more driven to train, and focus on long term goals. The variety of events we attend provides an opportunity for kids to personalize their goals.

Who are the leaders?

Our adult leaders are a diverse group of men and women dedicating their time to help your kids find adventure and grow! All our adult leaders go through a background check and youth protection training from USA Cycling. The race team will also often have guest coaches who are accomplished cyclists. OUr adult leaders also rac alongside the kids at many events!

What types of events does Adventure Race Team participate in?

Mountain Bike XC

Cross Country mountain bike races get the kids out into the woods on a marked course. Laps are typically 8-12 miles, and the kids will race 1-3 laps depending on their skill level and USAC race category. MTB XC tends to be the most popular with the kids!

Cyclocross

Also called CX, Cyclocross races are timed events on a short course where participants complete the maximum number of laps in a designated time. A typical course is a 1.5 kilometer lap, and race time are 30-60 minutes. CX is a very spectator friendly event and exciting to watch!

Gravel Grinders

Gravel races are an area where kids can test their endurance, and they have to know the rules of the road. Gravel events are held on open roads with marked turns and a GPS file provided. Distances can be from 20-100 miles.

What is the season and schedule like?

The race team tends to stay active nearly year round, but the season typically starts in early March with a preseason meeting and fitting for race jerseys. We hold weekly rides from mid-March to mid-October in at mountain bike trails around N.E. Ohio, as well as gravel rides in eastern Geauga County. Race team members are also highly encouraged to get as many miles in as they can outside team functions.
